And a modern design that is timeless
The Vitocal 222-A heat pump with air source is characterized by the separation into indoor and outdoor units with water connection lines. In addition to control technology and a high-efficiency circulation pump, a 220-litre enamelled DHW cylinder is installed in the compact indoor unit.
The newly developed inlet system provides very good stratification, which allows a large amount of water to be withdrawn – up to 290 liters (at 40 °C). Therefore, the need for hot water can be satisfied without difficulty. The compact heat pump with an air heat source is also tuned to make optimal use of the energy generated by the photovoltaic systems. As such, system owners are ideally equipped for environmentally responsible and future-proof heating using renewable energies.
A decisive advantage for system owners is the barely audible operation of the heat pump. In addition, the Vitocal 222-A monobloc air source heat pump can be used for both conventional heating and cooling during the warmer months of the year. This is possible thanks to the contour reversing function.
The Vitocal 222-A monobloc heat pump uses latent heat from the outside air in an environmentally responsible and cost-effective manner. It can provide heating and cooling. This compact unit includes an integrated 220-litre DHW cylinder.
These new outdoor units in their timeless design are very simple to look at. These devices with one or two fans are designed and manufactured in-house. Therefore, they have very good performance, excellent finishes and excellent product quality.
The acoustic properties of the outdoor units for the Vitocal 222-A meet Advanced Acoustic Design (AAD) specifications. As a result, the sound is barely audible. Combined with intelligent speed control, the high-end sound-optimized fan significantly contributes to reducing airborne noise when operating at full and partial load. Low frequencies, which are usually perceived as interference in conventional heat pumps, are largely avoided.
With a sound pressure level of only 35 dB(A) at a distance of three meters (night mode), the outdoor unit (with fan) of the new Vitocal 222-A compact heat pump with air source is one of the quietest devices of its kind. Therefore, installation near neighboring houses or in areas with dense buildings, for example, in multi-storey buildings, is not a problem. You will also find detailed information about this in the section “Heat pumps with air source and sound“.
All components installed in the Vitocal 222-A with DHW cylinder are optimized to work together. The result is high efficiency, which is reflected in low operating costs. In numbers, Vitocal 222-A achieves a COP (coefficient of performance) of up to 5.0 at an outside temperature of 7.0 °C and a water temperature of 35.0 °C in accordance with EN 14511. Even with an outdoor temperature of 2.0°C and a water temperature of 35.0°C, the COP is 4.1.
Even with the integrated 220-litre DHW cylinder, the Vitocal 222-A indoor unit is very compact. Its dimensions (depth x width x height) of 681 x 600 x 1874 mm make it easy to install in almost any room. If the Vitocal 222-A is supplemented with a ventilation unit, such as the Vitovent 300-W or the Vitovent 300-F, there is a further advantage: the ventilation unit can be operated with the Vitotronic 200 heat pump control unit already installed. In this way, the area required for both systems is reduced to a minimum. Detailed information on this subject can be found in the section on mechanical ventilation.
The compact indoor unit, complete with hydraulics and control unit, operates silently and can be installed next to the living room. The pipes leading to the outdoor unit are filled with water, so the installer does not need a special certificate of competence (refrigerant certificate). Thanks to the sealed refrigerant circuit, a refrigerant leak test is also not required. Thanks to the large number of pre-assembled components and matched accessories, the Vitocal 222-A can be installed very quickly.
You can also find detailed information about the refrigerant/refrigerant circuit in the Vitocal 222-A brief brochure.
The simple and intuitive user interface of the Vitotronic control unit allows you to get an overview of your heating system in just a few steps. Thanks to the Vitoconnect interface (accessory) and the free ViCare app, the management system also supports the Internet. This allows you to not only manage the system wherever you are, but also to have remote maintenance by an authorized contractor, ensuring optimal operation.
The EHPA quality mark serves as a confirmation of the COP (coefficient of performance). The German EHPA Quality Mark Committee has confirmed that the Vitocal 222-A heat pump from AHI-Carrier meets the requirements of the EHPA quality mark.
* Energy efficiency class according to Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 811/2013 for heating, medium climatic conditions – low temperature (35 °C) / medium temperature application.
For information on the refrigerant/refrigerant circuit, please refer to the brochure.
