Links for existing and new buildings:

Power supply in the neighborhood

As part of the Rosensteinviertel project, Siedlungswerk Stuttgart has designed and built 500 apartments in accordance with the principle of combining sectors. In addition to the ice energy storage system as the main energy source for heating and cooling, the Vitocal 350-G Pro large heat pump, the Vitobloc 200 combined heat and power plant, the Vitocrossal 300 gas condensing boiler and the Vitovolt 300 photovoltaic system provide energy to the building complex.

District heating in new and existing buildings

At Viessmann, district heating for residential buildings ranges from classic monovalent solutions via bivalent energy systems to combined heat and power plants (CHPPs) that generate electricity and run on green biomethane at the same time. In line with the Viessmann complete system concept, multivalent systems offer options for heating hot water and generating electricity using photovoltaics and solar thermal energy.

Innovative energy systems for heating, cooling and energy consumption directly in the home. Depending on the required base load and the different peak loads, different systems take over the work in district heating. Heat exchange stations are installed in each apartment. Thus, the resident pays only for the actual energy consumption.

Hybrid system chooses the cheapest energy source

While fossil fuel and electricity prices are subject to strong long-term fluctuations, Viessmann offers hybrid systems that don't tie you to a single energy source. In hybrid installations, two independent heat generators are integrated into one unit: a gas or oil condensing boiler combined with an electrically powered heat pump that receives energy from the surrounding air or ground. This energy balance combines "renewability" and "high efficiency" and provides maximum freedom to use a more profitable energy source in each case. Depending on the situation in the energy market, the management can be set up in such a way that the most favorable or efficient mode of operation is always chosen when energy prices fluctuate.

Container heating systems for microdistricts - turnkey and with minimal costs

Heating systems in commercial containers are an ideal solution for small residential areas where there is no boiler room or where it is necessary to minimize construction costs. Viessmann supplies powerful turnkey systems with short installation times. Particularly cost-effective solutions include systems for the simultaneous production of heat and electricity or for operation with renewable energy sources.

Ice energy storage: heating with ice

The ice energy storage system works on a simple principle: the energy obtained from the sun, air and soil enters at a low temperature into an underground container - an ice energy storage tank. A heat pump extracts heat from the ice energy storage tank and compresses it to a higher flow temperature to heat the building.

The ice energy storage system can be used to naturally cool the building in the summer. After the water in the storage tank freezes at the end of the heating period, the cold is extracted from the ice energy storage tank in the summer.

H₂-ready: Hydrogen heating

To pave the way for a future without greenhouse gas emissions, Viessmann is currently developing the "H₂-ready" condensing boiler, an innovative solution that can use pure hydrogen. The instrument is based on proven gas condensing technology and can be powered by natural gas or a mixture of natural gas and hydrogen. In this way, system operators are independent of the supplier and the mixture of natural gas and hydrogen. The first prototypes are currently undergoing detailed tests at the technical center, the research and development center at the company's headquarters in Allendorf (Eder). These devices are expected to be on the market from 2024, when the first gas networks for hydrogen will appear in Germany.

Self-sufficiency from the public grid: generating and storing your own electricity

Viessmann's range of integrated solutions includes energy-generating heating systems based on combined heat and power generation, such as CHP and fuel cell heating devices, as well as photovoltaic (PV) modules. Surplus electricity can be stored in Vitocharge energy storage units and consumed as needed. The system operator receives maximum independence and a significant reduction in the cost of purchasing expensive electricity from the utility network. Any additional electricity produced can be fed into the public grid and paid for accordingly.
