Vitomax RS waste heat boiler for steam production

Waste heat boilers utilize the heat from flue gases generated during fuel combustion or hot exhaust air from industrial processes to generate saturated steam. For economic and regulatory reasons, waste heat boilers are often used in conjunction with gas turbines and combined heat and power plants. Considering rising energy costs, in particular, waste heat boilers can be an excellent choice.

Hydrogen up to 100 percent

In chemical production, such as chlorine production and other industrial processes, much of the hydrogen gas is wasted and released into the atmosphere. Vitomax boilers, which can operate on 100% hydrogen with the appropriate burner, offer a cost-effective and efficient solution. At the same time, they avoid large amounts of climate-damaging CO₂ emissions.

The operating principle of waste heat boilers

AHI-Carrier waste heat boilers are designed using the fire tube:flue tube principle. Hot flue gas passes through tube bundles, where heat is transferred to the water inside the boiler body.

To minimize radiation losses, the waste heat boiler is equipped with 100mm of thermal insulation and a metal casing. As with all Vitomax boilers, the support frame evenly distributes the load over a large floor area.

With or without auxiliary combustion

Waste heat boilers without auxiliary combustion equipment use only flue gases/exhaust air to generate saturated steam. Waste heat boilers with combustion equipment are conventional boilers with a burner and waste heat recovery.

All Vitomax RS combustion products are suitable for combustion of up to 100% hydrogen, subject to our general conditions for the use of H2 .
